McCann and Partners are delighted to have provided the MEP design for Cardiff West Community High School, which was successfully handed over to Cardiff Council this March.
The new £30m school will be officially opening for students on the 2nd April, after a very fast 11 months of construction.
Housing 1,500 pupils, Cardiff West will replace former schools Michaelston Community College and Glyn Derw High School, which was sadly devastated by a fire in 2016.
The development is made up of three two-storey buildings which include 50 classrooms, including new science labs, technology workshops, ICT suites plus open teaching spaces, a main hall, dining area and new sports complex.
The three school buildings comprise of the Main School Building, Post 16 Building and Sports Building.
The site also includes a new floodlit 3G pitch with spectator stands for 100 people, MUGA Space and outdoor teaching facilities.
This has been a fantastic project to be a part of, and a great team effort from everyone involved including Willmott Dixon, Cambria UK, PD Architects and Asbri Planning, to name a few.
