The McCann and Partners team dedicated 2018 to raising money for local homelessness charity The Wallich, which gives help and advice to homeless and vulnerable people around Wales.

The McCann staff has been working tirelessly across our Cardiff and Swansea offices to organise events, run competitions and hold charity days at work so that we could achieve our target goal and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support.

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to our colleagues and partners in the industry who have helped with team sponsorships, and who have come along to so many of our charity events.

As part of our fundraising journey, we’ve held dodgeball competitions, charity golf days, and hosted a stellar pub quiz, but the standout challenge has been taking part in Cyclone24 this October.

For those who haven’t experienced Cyclone24 before, it is the UK’s only 24 hour velodrome challenge event series. During a day-long cycling endurance challenge, teams battle physical exhaustion and mental fatigue as they take to the velodrome track in rotation to relay cycle non-stop as the clock counts down.

A few dedicated members of the McCann staff put a team together and bravely took on Cyclone24 in the name of charity, and raised a substantial £945 in the process.

We are thrilled to have supported The Wallich for the past 12 months, and so pleased that the money we’ve raised will be allocated to its Cardiff Nightshelter, paying for an additional bed to be available for as many as 9 months.

The Wallich has been providing accommodation and support services for homeless people since 1978, starting with a 20-bed hostel in Cardiff. The 300-strong team is striving to make life better for those who are experiencing homelessness, and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed partnering with them this year.
