Plans for a new bus station, residential accommodation (PRS) and commercial office space on the former Marland House site near the city’s Central Square, have been approved by Cardiff City council’s planning committee.

The scheme includes a 14-bay bus interchange and concourse, a 22-storey residential building on Wood Street and an adjacent nine-storey building, which together will house more than 300 flats.

There will also be a six-storey office block, seven retail spaces as well as nearly 250 parking spaces for the nearby headquarters of BBC Wales, as well as a 144-cycle hub.

McCann and Partners is proud to be working on the project with Developer Rightacres Property Company Limited and Architects Holder Mathias.

McCann and Partners will provide the MEP services for the whole project as well as provide BREEAM services for the office accommodation. McCann and Partners Director, Justin Thomas said: “This is a key development for the city which will see further development around the Central Square and Central Station area.

“McCann and Partners has already designed the MEP services for many Central Square developments, including the multi-tenanted One Central Square and Plot 2, which houses Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture, as well as Hugh James solicitors. We can’t wait to get started on this next exciting project.”
